Pickle Juice Soda Is Here and It’s “a Really Big Dill”

It’s 2017 and we’re no stranger to an interesting food hybrid, but the latest carbonated mashup has us seriously intrigued. Pickle Juice Soda comes from Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop, a chain of candy stores in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and it’s bringing out a lot of polarized emotions.

The store announced the news of the soda on its Facebook page, writing, “If you’re the kind of pickle lover who relishes in all things pickled, this is gonna be a really big dill.” According to the website, the soda is made with pure cane sugar and is sold at Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop for $2.50. But if you’re in need of some pickled pop and do not live in the area, you can purchase a bottle online for $10, or splurge on a three-pack for $20 or a six-pack for $30.

Confused? Curious? Taste buds tingling? You are not alone. Twitter users also have plenty of thoughts about pickle juice soda. Check out some of the mixed reactions below.

Healthy Kitchen Swaps This Registered Dietitian Says You Should Make

Making the decision to start a healthy lifestyle has many moving parts. There’s the mental decision to change your life, which for some people is the hardest part, and then there’s executing on that decision. How are you going to actually get that done? Working out and creating a balanced diet are the types of healthy habits you want to adopt, but they can also feel monumental to achieve.

To help tackle the second component – the balanced diet – we connected with Susan Bowerman, M.S., R.D., C.S.S.D., F.A.N.D, at Herbalife Nutrition, for guidance. Regardless of your lifestyle goals, restructuring your food plan will almost certainly be part of the process. And one very smart way to accomplish that is to make swaps in the kitchen. “As you experiment with making healthy food swaps, you are really establishing new habits and retraining your way of eating,” says Bowerman. “When you think of how many times a day you’re poking your head into your refrigerator, pantry, or freezer, it can be a tremendous help if the foods you have available are the ones you know are on your plan and will help promote better eating habits.”

So what should you have in the kitchen? Here’s what Bowerman suggests:

Chocolate-Dipped Twinkies With Rainbow Sprinkles Are a Game Changer

When Hostess announced new products including chocolate-dipped Twinkies with rainbow sprinkles, we had exactly one thought: “must try ASAP.” And after we tried the chocolate Twinkies plus two other new products, Triple Fudge Ding Dongs and Cupcake Cookies, we can confirm these new pastries are serious game changers. Keep your eyes peeled for the all-new Hostess Bake Shop items in the grocery store, but you won’t find them in the cookie aisle. Instead, you’ll see them in the bakery section of the store, rightfully placed among other delicious cupcakes and cookies. If you can’t decide which of the three items you want to pick up first, here’s what you should know about the taste (and sweetness level) of each one.

Decorated Twinkies

The new Decorated Twinkies are coated in a layer of icing-like chocolate, topped with plenty of sprinkles, and drizzled with white icing, too. If a regular Twinkie is enough to give you a sugar rush, just wait until you bite into one of these incredibly sweet treats. Chocolate-lovers will appreciate this fun twist on a classic and won’t be able to resist finishing the whole pastry. They might even be better than the original.

Triple Fudge Ding Dongs

Holy chocolate! We didn’t think a Hostess product could be too sweet for our liking; some people claim it might have gone overboard on the chocolate. The whole Ding Dong is dipped in fudgy chocolate, and it makes the outer shell much thicker than usual. We’re left wanting more cake than chocolate coating, but if there’s no such thing as too much chocolate in your world, you won’t have any complaints.

Cupcake Cookies

You can’t go wrong with Hostess Cupcakes, and these have everything you love about the classic treat, but they’re in cookie form. The moist chocolate cookies don’t have a cream filling inside, but they have the iconic swirled white icing on top. There’s nothing not to love, and you won’t be able to stop at just one. Perfectly sweet and just the right amount of chocolaty, the Cupcake Cookies were universally loved by everyone who tried them.

Cheeseburger Burritos Are a Thing – Because Dreams Really Do Come True

Picking one item on the menu is hard, guys, especially when you’re torn between two equally as delectable options like a cheeseburger and burrito. But why choose just one when you can combine the two into an epic food hybrid? That’s the mentality behind the heaven-sent geniuses at Burgrito’s, a New-York-based restaurant that offers – you guessed it – a mashup of American and Mexican cuisines in the form of the “burgrito.”

A mouthwatering (yet potentially gut-busting) concoction of hamburger meat, tomato, bacon, lettuce, onion, cheese, chipotle sauce, and french fries, the burgrito is actually everything we ever needed in life and then some. They’re basically like the unabashedly antidiet older cousin of sushi tacos – they’re greasy, caloric, and proud. As burgritos are wrapped up in a tortilla, they totally squash the all-too-familiar issue of burger grease dripping on your flossy new jeans every time you take a bite. So long, Tide To-Go pen! Plus, Burgrito’s even offers a vegan-friendly option that swaps in a veggie burger, so everyone can get in on the action.

OK, enough talkin’ about these fast-food masterpieces. Ahead, drool over photos of your new favorite food hybrid while simultaneously booking your flight to New York to try them yourself.
