Benefits of Sea Salt

Being 100% Gluten Free – The Secrets to Living Healthy

In this video, I will explain the many benefits of sea salt and the negative side effects of iodized table salt.

Negatives of Iodized Table Salt:

⁃ Contains MSG, anti-caking agents and aluminum derivatives
⁃ Increases blood pressure
⁃ Leads to weight gain

Benefits of Sea Salt or Rock Salt

⁃ Contain as many as 80 trace vitamins and minerals
⁃ Hydration
⁃ Support kidney detoxification
⁃ Cleansing of colon
⁃ Health of libido
⁃ Brain function
⁃ Heart health
⁃ Overall energy levels

My two favorites are Himalayan salt and Celtic sea salt that you should get into your diet on a regular basis.

It is best to get 1/4 tsp per meal 3 times a day.
⁃ If you are an athlete or sweating a lot, you may need more
⁃ If you have thyroid issues, then getting real salt on your food every day is a must!

With salt, you also need to get more potassium-rich foods to have a healthy ratio balance for fluid exchange which is critical for detoxification. Hydration is not just getting more water, but also getting more sodium and potassium. Here is an article on my website about potassium-rich foods:

Benefits of Pau d’Arco

Being 100% Gluten Free – The Secrets to Living Healthy

Today I’m going to share with you the many benefits and uses of pau d’arco and pau d’arco tea.

Pau d’Arco is an herb used in many different native regions around the world and is considered the #1 herb for killing candida today.

The cause of candida is when your immune system is weakened and you get “dampness in your body.” This is known in Chinese Medicine as a spleen deficiency or excess dampness.

Weak immune systems can be caused by emotional stress, taking antibiotic drugs or poor diet. Other causes of candida or “dampness in the body” can be consuming too much dairy, wheat or just a poor diet. If you have white coating on your tongue, loose stools, cravings for grains and sweets regularly or regular infections such as a UTI, these are signs that you have candida and chronic infections in your body. If you know you’ve had a parasite, impetigo or ringworm, these are also signs of dampness, candida or fungal infections.

The #1 treatment is to drink pau d’arco tea or consume pau d’arco as a supplement. Pau d’Arco contains a compound that has anti fungal, anti parasitic and anti-viral benefits.

For any patient struggling with candida, I would put them on the following diet:

No sugar
No grains
Fermented vegetables or bitter foods
Bone broth soup (nourishing to spleen)
Drink 2-3 glasses of pau d’arco tea or 2 doses in supplement form

How to Treat IBS Naturally

Being 100% Gluten Free – The Secrets to Living Healthy

In this training video I am going to talk to you about IBS natural treatments and the IBS diet.
IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I have worked with thousands of patients and helped lay out natural treatments to help people overcome this condition and I know you can too.

4 Steps to Treat IBS:

1) What foods to stay away from if you have IBS

• Gluten- This inflammatory protein in grain can cause IBS. I suggest at the start of treatment to stay away from ALL grain products (especially wheat.) After about 3-9 months you can start to try adding in some sprouted or sourdough grains.
• Casein or conventional dairy products- Kefir or fermented dairy can be helpful but regular dairy can be very destructive for IBS.
• Hydrogenated Oils
• Raw foods- salads & raw foods can damage the gut if you have IBS so it’s best to eat only cooked foods
• Cold foods- Ice water, Ice cream & cold foods are hard on digestive system
• Processed or refined/packaged foods

2) Top healing foods for IBS (consume foods that nourish the colon and spleen)

• White immune boosting foods
⁃ Cauliflower, Garlic and Onions- Cooked onions and garlic can kill off bad bacteria in the gut
• Squashes
⁃ Butternut, Acorn and Spaghetti Squashes are nursing to spleen and colon

• Bone Broth- #1 superfood to consume to heal IBS
⁃ Bone Broth soup contains amino acid to help repair and heal in intestinal lining
⁃ A perfect meal would be a crockpot with organic meat, bones/broth, and vegetables such as squash and celery.

3) Quality Supplements
• Live Probiotic Supplements
• L-Glutamin- amino acid that protects & nourishes gut lining
• Frankincense Essential Oil- reduces inflammation
• Digestive Enzymes- take at meal to help break down food so it is easier to digest

4) Focus on reducing stress
• Schedule 3 things daily
⁃ Long walk in nature
⁃ Read a spiritual growth book, meditate or pray
⁃ Wind down with a detox bath at night
⁃ 1 cup epsom salt and 20 drops oil (Lavendar) and soak away

Is Rice Healthy?

Being 100% Gluten Free – The Secrets to Living Healthy

Dr. Axe here and today I am answering the question, “Is rice healthy” and explaining the difference between white rice and brown rice.

My answer is that it really depends on you. I will show you the pros and cons of rice and go over what I believe is the healthiest rice today. There is a debate today about if you should consume rice or not:

⁃ The paleo diet community says to stay grain free and therefore that rice is not healthy
⁃ Chinese medicine followers and vegans think rice can be an incredible superfood

I believe there is validity to both but it depends on the person and on the preparation of the rice.

Rice to stay away from: Refined White Rice- (this is not jasmine or basmati rice but the sticky white rice from fast food or Chinese restaurants.)

Rice Cons:
• Fiber, minerals and vitamins have been removed.
• Study shows that people are twice as likely to develop diabetes as opposed to those eating whole grain brown rice.
• Contains phytic acid (enzyme inhibitor) which keeps you from absorbing and digesting vitamins and minerals.
• Contains proteins that are difficult to digest

Rice Pros:
• Whole grain brown rice is high in B3 which is good for heart health.
• Whole grain brown rice is high in selenium which supports the thyroid and kidneys.
• Certain types of rice contain GABA, a neurotransmitter, that can support the brain and helps reduce anxiety as well as support metabolism.

So….is rice healthy? Is brown rice healthy? It depends on how it is prepared. I believe that
if rice is soaked and sprouted then it unlocks the vitamins and minerals versus most rices that aren’t sprouted.

I personally consume an organic rice from the company, True Roots. It is a germinated brown rice (soaked and sprouted) which kills off phytic acid and is easier to digest.

In Chinese medicine, look up “qi” or “chi.” They believe that short grain brown rice increase your body’s “qi” which is your body’s life source and energy. It is considered to be one of the #1 healing foods and I suggest to my patients to make a “congee” with chicken bone broth, brown rice and vegetables such as carrots, and celery. This chicken vegetable rice soup is healing and nourishing to the body.

In conclusion, is rice healthy? Yes, it can be if you are doing sprouted rice that is traditionally prepared.
Simply, stay away from white refined rice that is void of vitamins and minerals and can cause a spike in your blood sugar and insulin levels.
